What really happens when you step out of your life

Hi friend,

I’ve just arrived home after 2 weeks of living in an eco-village with a group of 10 entrepreneurs, and the lessons learned were super powerful!

In the heart of the Mexican jungle, stripped-back to basics, it became impossible to hide behind our usual daily distractions.

And when you remove the noise, you find yourself – exactly as you are.

We were all faced with a choice: turn away and numb the awareness?
Or stay long enough to see who we really are?

In this month’s newsletter, I want to share some of the quieter lessons from Mexico, and why stepping outside your daily life can become a powerful gateway to real personal growth, if you let it.

I hope it gives you something to reflect on,
Lewis

On this month’s agenda:
– What Happened in Mexico

Mexican Jungle Residency

Together with Art Of Mondays, we invited a small group of 11 entrepreneurs to spend 12 days living in an eco-village – away from the pace and pressure of the working world – with the intention of creating space.

Space to slow down.
Space to build real connections.
Space to focus on growth, both personally and in their businesses.

Most people arrived as strangers. With different businesses, different backgrounds, and at different stages in life. But they did all have one thing in common – a quiet sense that they wanted more alignment in the lifestyle they’re building.

Each morning started with what we called morning magic: a short workout to wake the body, meditation to settle the mind, and journalling to clear whatever was already sitting beneath the surface. Nothing extreme, just enough to set our tone and intention before each day began.

From there, we challenged ourselves by stepping onto an empty stage, allowing ourselves to be seen, speaking honestly and acting authentically. We learned how to balance reassurance with empowerment; how to feel supported without being rescued and how to play around in the balance.

Alongside that, we worked on very real, practical things too: AI, lead generation, facebook ads, nutrition. Workshops and conversations that helped everyone level-up their life or business.

And it wasn’t just wall-to-wall self-development.

There was time for sunbathing in the heat of the day, taking cold dips in cenotes, and evenings filled with salsa dancing, laughter, and conversations that didn’t need an agenda.

As the days passed, strangers became teammates, then friends.
People started speaking more honestly; not only about their businesses, but about their lives. Old assumptions loosened, allowing new perspectives to emerge.

And that’s where the real growth happened.

Not because anyone was told what to do. But because the noise had dropped enough for truth to surface. It’s what happens when capable people are given the right environment to actually see themselves – and each other – more clearly.

Turning 30

Whilst I was away, I hit the big milestone of turning 30 years old – something I’d honestly been dreading for a little while.

Celebrating away from home felt a little bitter-sweet. It was amazing to be in sunny Mexico, surrounded by a group of new friends, but I did miss my friends and family back home.

Yet, when I look back on the key moments from the last decade, most of them have happened when I decided to take time to get away from my day to day life.

From my first solo-weekend in Faro, to spending a month living on a motorbike, I wouldn’t be the person who I am today if I hadn’t repeatedly created space outside of the hustle of daily life.

The moments where my life genuinely changed (leaving my career, ending relationships, starting my business) came when I stepped outside of my life long enough to see what was actually shaping my decisions.

That space changed how I work.
It changed how I relate to people.
And slowly, it changed the person I became.

There’s a metaphor that I love which is to zoom out and view your life from 50,000 feet. From above the clouds, you can see yourself clearly, check your direction and make the important decisions, before you zoom back into the driver seat of the day-to-day actions

When we regularly reflect in this way it gives us the opportunity to zoom out just far enough, just often enough, to stay aligned to our direction, and to live our lives the way we’ve intended.

Life & Book Update

At the start of the month, we kicked off 2026 with an amazing London workshop called 2026 By Design. Fifteen of us joined together to kickstart our year by designing life systems that carry our momentum forward!

We’ll be meeting again on the 15th of Feb for our monthly bookclub meetup where we’ll be chatting all about Alain de Botton’s The Course of Love. Grab a ticket here if you’d like to join us.

To keep updated on any upcoming workshops, make sure you’re subscribed over on Eventbrite.

Finally, this month I celebrated finishing my final manuscript for my upcoming book Life on Your Terms! We’re just locking down the front cover before I can launch the pre-orders – keep you eyes peeled for this in the next few weeks!

As with my last newsletter, I’ve filmed a little raw update below of my unfiltered thoughts and feelings, feel free to check it out over your morning coffee!
